The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows
*****************************************
Reflection on the September 15, 2004 Message
The Immaculate Heart of Mary is a heart filled with profound sorrow as the
Mother of the Redeemer shared and participated in all of Jesus' pain, from
the moment of His birth, throughout His entire life, to His Passion and
death on the Cross. Mary's Immaculate Heart was pierced by many swords and,
at the Foot of the Cross, she willingly offered her Son as the Victim of
Redemption. Mary was Jesus' intimate cooperator in His redemptive work. She
rightfully deserves the title, Coredemptrix. As Mediatrix and Advocate,
Mary guides and protects us on earth and she presents our prayers to the
Most Holy Trinity. Mary is, indeed, God's invaluable gift to us! We shall
spend eternity thanking our Holy Mother for all she has done for us! Does
not the Gift-giver deserve our unending glory, gratitude and praise for
such a precious gift?
Our Mother, full of grace, repeatedly tells us to focus not on her, but on
her Son. She reminds us she is here to take us to the Foot of the Cross
where we, too, can join our suffering with her Son's and it, too, will
become redemptive for the sake of so many souls. In this, we shall receive
the Joy and Peace which only Jesus can give, the Joy and Peace He yearns to
give.
Mary reminds us that she has forewarned us of the events now occurring in
the world and that Satan would try to create as much chaos and confusion as
he could. But this is his last attempt to harm us and soon he will be
crushed. The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is very, very near!
Again and again, our Blessed Mother has pleaded for our prayerful response.
Let us heed her call to unite in love and fervent prayer.
