Feast of The Assumption

August 15, 2005

Today is the feast of The Assumption of Mary. It is not a holy day of obligation because the feast falls on a Monday. I have to be honest and say that I don’t think it should matter what day it is. However, I do understand the reasoning behind it.

The thought of it not being a holy day of obligation left me with somewhat of an empty feeling today that was compounded when I arrived at St. Joseph’s on my way to work and was not met with a 13 or 33 from anywhere. I said a few prayers and left for Manassas.

I did not stop at All Saint’s for mass because I planned to attend the Miraculous Medal Novena and mass tonight at St. Joseph’s. I drove straight to work and when I arrived the odometer was 3.3.

The day was extremely busy. It was so busy that I never got an opportunity to take my lunch break and go to All Saint’s to pray the rosary. That compounded the empty feeling with me today.

When I finally got off work I felt better knowing I was heading for mass at St. Joseph’s. When I started the car to leave for Emmitsburg the odometer was 3.3 from where I arrived this morning. It was at that instant I suddenly felt the peace hit me for the first time that day. I glanced at my watch and it said XX:XX:13 and the CD counter flashed 13.

I drove to St. Joseph’s for mass and when I arrived and got out of my car I looked up and the first thing I saw was a car directly in front of me with the license plate of 13. I bowed my head and said “Thank You” and as I raised my head the next thing I saw a was another car with the license plate of 33. The feeling of peace was strong. I glanced at my watch as I walked in the church and the time was 7:33.

I attended mass and it was very nice. Fr. John was the priest. Mass ended and I got in my car to go home and as I pulled out of the parking lot the CD flashed 33. I arrived home and my day still seemed incomplete because I still had not prayed my rosary.

S.C.C. and C.R.C. said they needed to go to Joe F’s house to feed the dog and cats because they are away. Just after they left I had the sudden feeling that this was the perfect opportunity to go back to St. Joseph’s and pray my rosary. I started my car to leave and the CD counter flashed 13.

I drove to St. Joseph’s to pray the rosary for The Feast of The Assumption and when I arrived and the car came to a complete stop the CD counter flashed 133. I prayed both the Glorious and Luminous mysteries and just as I finished and kissed the crucifix I glanced at my watch and the time was 10:33:00.
