Family Prayer Service

September 11, 2005

We have been asked to discontinue the Mass portion of our Monthly Family Prayer Service. We understand that there are liturgical reasons to restrict additional Masses outside the regularly scheduled Masses of a parish. Moreover, there is a critical shortage of priests in this country and the resulting demand upon individual priests is enormous. Finally, in respect to Fr. Mike M______, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church, effective with the October 9 monthly Prayer Service, we will no longer include the celebration of the mass.

In the future, the Mission of Mercy Monthly Family Prayer Service on the 2nd Sunday will continue, but will begin at 3PM, rather than 2PM. We will come together to pray for Peace; for Mission of Mercy’s patients, staff, volunteers and benefactors; to pray for the intentions on Our Lady’s Prayer Scroll; and to pray for each other and the intentions we hold in the quiet of our hearts. The rosary, chaplet and other devotions will be said or chanted as usual and will be followed by a time for fellowship and refreshment. While there are both early afternoon and late evening masses in the area, you are urged to attend mass at your home parish.

We thank you for attending today. We hope that you will continue to participate in this Monthly Family Prayer Service and that you will bring a friend to the next prayer service to be held on Sunday, October 9 at 3PM here at St. Mary’s.

Thank you and may God bless you, may He bless Fr. Mike M______ for his hospitality and may God continue to bless Mission of Mercy.
