This morning S.C.C. and I drove to St. Joseph’s to attend mass. I waited for S.C.C. but she told me to go ahead because she needed to drive her own car because she was working at St. Peter’s today. I then left and arrived at St. Joseph’s and looked at my watch as I walked in the church and the time was 8:33.
Mass began and Fr. O’Malley was the priest. During Fr. O’Malley’s homily about the apparitions in Lourdes, France he said something that stunned just about everybody there. He said that over the past 100 years or so there have been about 395 apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary reported. He then stated that only a small handful have ever been approved by the church.
At this point people expected him to say something negative about the apparitions in Emmitsburg, but he did not. He then asked the question “Does the church ever make a mistake?” He then answered his own question by saying “I suppose if you were to ask Galielo he would say the church made a mistake, and it did.
He then said if you were to ask the people of Massachusetts if the church ever makes mistakes, most of them would also agree that it does. He then said “The church has made mistakes but when guided by the Holy Spirit the truth always wins.”
Mass ended and we rode to St. Peters and Peter Blanchard gave me the new message for today and the time was 9:13.
