The Second Sunday Mission of Mercy Mass At St. Mary’s Has Been Discontinued

Sunday July 9. 2006

Sometimes it just simply numbs my mind when I think about what some people are willing to do in order to try and crush the apparitions of Our Lady here in Emmitsburg. As it has become painfully obvious to many of these people that the apparitions are here and are here to stay, they have shifted there attacks to include Mission of Mercy at the expense of the poor and sick. Despite their efforts both the apparitions of Our Lady and Mission of Mercy have continued to grow and prosper.

As it stands now the Mission of Mercy prayer service each 2nd Sunday will continue but without the mass. This is because of pressure exerted by those who consider Mission of Mercy and the apparitions of Our Lady to be united. They figure if either one falls the other one will fall behind it. It would not be possible for them to be more wrong.

With or without the Second Sunday Mission of Mercy Prayer Service the apparitions of Our Lady of Emmitsburg and Mission of Mercy will flourish because The Blessed Virgin Mary Herself oversees everything that pertains to both. If She were not today’s prayer service would not have gone like this:

S.C.C. and I were scheduled to be Eucharistic Ministers at the 10:30 mass this morning at St. Mary’s. Without considering the time whatsoever and only going to the car after S.C.C. and C.R.C. were ready to leave I started the car and the time on the dash was 10:13.

We drove to St. Mary’s and processed in and mass started at 10:33. Fr. Messaro was the priest. The consecration was at 11:13. Mass ended and we drove to the Village Table for breakfast, when we finished there we drove home and pulled in the driveway at 1:13.

A little later S.C.C., C.R.C. and myself drove back to St. Mary’s to setup for the 2 pm Mission of Mercy Prayer Service. We arrived and the time was 1:33.

We got everything set up by the time people started to arrive. I became concerned when Fr. ___ did not show up to hear confessions and expose the Blessed Sacrament. I called him but there was no answer so I left a message.

A few minutes later Mike and Gianna Sullivan arrived and Mike asked me if I received the message from Fr. ____. I told Mike that I had not. Mike then told me that Fr. ___ tried to reach me but was unable. He told Mike to tell me that I had his permission to expose the Blessed Sacrament for the prayer service because he could not make it today due to family members visiting from New Jersey. After receiving this news I exposed the Blessed Sacrament on the altar and the prayer service began at 2:13.

Since the mass has been discontinued the attendance was a little on the low side. I would say about 25 or 30 people. Ivan Pare led the rosary and Mission of Mercy prayers. Jim O’Brien led the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

When the prayer service ended I walked outside to put something in my car. While I was outside I ran into Gianna Sullivan in the parking lot. Gianna and Mike had told me back on July 5th that they would like to get together and hear the whole story of how we came to move here to Emmitsburg. Gianna suggested that we schedule it after Dr. Courtney Bartholomew comes for the next public apparition of Our Lady in August. I said that would be fine. I looked at my watch and the time was 3:13.

We went back inside for the refreshments down in the parish hall. When that was finished we cleaned up and when I started the car to leave the time on the dash was 4:33.
