Deacon Robert Malagesi is Ordained Priest

November 2-3, 2007  NOTE: THIS PAPER DOES NOT IN ANYWAY MEAN THAT FR. ROBERT ENDORSES OR APPROVES OF OUR LADY OF EMMITSBURG. IT IS PRESENTED HERE ONLY AS A HISTORICAL REFERENCE AS TO HOW I OBSERVED HIS ORDINATION IN EMMITSBURG.

This paper should actually have been included in last months papers. The reason it was not is only because of my personal neglect. I have felt somewhat overwhelmed lately and because of that I simply dropped some the things I needed to do. Because of this my papers last month were incomplete. I don’t believe I can start on this months papers until this one is complete because I have continually felt urged to still produce this paper.

I have know Robert Malagesi since before we moved here to the Emmitsburg area. I first knew him as Brother Robert and about a year ago he was ordained a deacon. On November 3, 2007 he was ordained to the priesthood in the order of The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary.

This evening my phone rang and it was Ivan P. Ivan wanted to know if I was going to Deacon Robert’s ordination tomorrow. I told Ivan that S.C.C. and I were planning to go. Ivan then asked if I could pickup Sr. Mary Bernadette at the Provincial House because she wanted to go. I told Ivan that we would pick her up. At the instant we hung up I felt the peace run through me. I glanced at my watch and the time was 9:13.

S.C.C., C.R.C. and myself got ready to go to Deacon Robert’s ordination this morning at Mount St. Mary’s. We drove to the basilica and picked up Sr. Mary Bernadette. We arrived and the time was 10:33.

We drove to Mount St. Mary’s and Archbishop Edwin O’Conner ordained another man a deacon and Deacon Robert was ordained a priest. The church was packed. This was the first ordination I had ever attended.

When the ordination mass was over Fr. Mike Messaro announced that the reception for Fr. Robert would be held at the Fairfield fire hall. Sr. Mary Bernadette asked if we could stop at the Provincial House before going to the reception because she needed to take care of something. We drove back to the Provincial House and when she came back out ready to leave I glanced at my watch and the time was 1:13:59.

We drove the Fairfield fire hall and the reception was very nice. There were hundreds of people there. When it was over people lined up to receive Fr. Robert’s first blessing. After we received the blessing we got in the car to leave and the time on the dash was 3:33.

We started driving Sr. Mary Bernadette back to the basilica. While I was driving she asked if we could pray the rosary for Fr. Robert. We started praying the rosary but before we finished we had arrived back at the basilica to drop off Sr. Mary Bernadette. Sr. Mary Bernadette then said “Please continue your rosary after I leave and that way we will be finishing at about the same time”.

Sr. Mary Bernadette left and S.C.C. and I drove up the street to St. Joseph’s to complete the rosary. When we finished I started the car to leave and the time on the dash was 4:13.
